FENOUILLEDES
Land of reputed wines (Maury), the
Fenouillèdes offer an everchanging
scenery of endlessly outstretching
vineyards, rocks, plateaux and gorges
("Les Gorges de Galamus") with a
particular natural charm. Dolmens, menhirs
and engraved rocks along with ancient
chapels and small churches that are
splendours of roman art testify of age-old
human presence in these parts. Rambling,
rock-climbing, festivals, castles of the
Cathares (Quéribus, Peyrepertuse),
Tautavel and its Prehistoric Museum near
by the famous grotto of Arago where the
